Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris is campaigning with local parents and residents to bring back a crossing patrol at the mini-roundabout at the end of Seaview Road on Canvey after it was withdrawn by Essex County Council.

The crossing was used by children at parents on the way to the nearby Leighbeck Junior and Infant Schools. The council withdrew the crossing last week after a reassessment of the junction following the sad death of the much loved local lollipop man ‘Ernie’.

Commenting Rebecca said:

“I met with parents on the school run this week and it is clear the crossing, which is alongside an awkwardly laid out mini-roundabout, is dangerous at busy times. Something needs to be done urgently and I am on the case for residents.

I have raised the matter with the management at the Essex County Council Highways Department and will keep on working to get this crossing is restored.”
