At the Conservative Party Conference last week, Rebecca Harris MP attended the Marie Curie stand to show her support.
Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity, providing expert care, guidance, and support for people living with terminal illnesses. They are campaigning for better end of life care while sharing new research to change the system.
Almost 1 in 3 people do not receive the palliative care and support they need at the end of their lives. This problem has become even more urgent as people in the UK are living longer and experiencing more complex health challenges.
Around 2.6% of the Essex population requires palliative or end of life support at any given time. The work that Marie Curie does is essential for supporting residents in Castle Point, helping those who lack support, are under financial stress or experiencing loss of dignity.
At Conference, Marie Curie continued their campaign for better funding to be able to make the necessary palliative care improvements.
Rebecca commented: "Improving palliative care is incredibly important for Castle Point, and Marie Curie are right to campaign for more investment. I am grateful to the representatives of this fantastic charity for sharing their perspectives on what government can do now to reform a failing system."
