Rebecca Harris MP visited the Specsavers and Glaucoma UK stand at the Conservative Party Conference.
Specsavers is helping Glaucoma UK raise awareness for glaucoma and good eye health. They are currently working together on numerous projects and campaigns to prevent vision loss through early detection.
Currently, there are 700,000 people with glaucoma in the UK, with 50% still undiagnosed. The only way to know if you have glaucoma is through eye checks with your opticians. Through their partnership, they can reach more people and end preventable glaucoma sight loss.
At the Party Conference, Specsavers called for improved access to community glaucoma care in England, arguing that it needs to be higher up the agenda for policy makers in England.
Access to Care is Specsavers vision for delivering better sight and hearing care in community settings, making greater use of primary care services to improve access, reduce waiting times, and release pressure on hospitals and GPs.
Rebecca commented: “It was great to visit the Specsavers stand and learn more about Access to Care. I fully support improving access to care across the UK as it is essential for early detection of this disease”.
