Last week, Rebecca popped into the Cherished Moments Dementia Café on Canvey with some of the brilliant young people who joined her for work experience. They had a great time chatting with everyone, joining in with the games and meeting some of the regulars.
The café runs every month at Canvey Island War Memorial Hall and gives people living with dementia, their carers and loved ones a friendly and supportive place to meet others, enjoy some company and have a good afternoon out.
There’s live entertainment, tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits. You can also find out more information about other local support and respite services available to those looking after a loved one.
The next session is on Saturday 12th September, 2pm to 4pm. Entry is £10 per person, with proceeds reinvested into the group.
You can follow the latest updates from Cherished Moments here: www.facebook.com/groups/1153424459424448/
Afterwards, Rebecca said: "A huge thank you to all the volunteers who give their time to make it happen.
"Please share this post, or mention the café to anyone you know who has a family member living with dementia. It could make a real difference."
