Rebecca is still a firm believer that no family should ever discover that a healthy pet has been put down without their knowledge. That is why she has reintroduced the Pets Microchips Bill to bring in ‘Tuk’s Law’ to Parliament.
After the Labour Government previously blocked the Bill to make it a legal requirement for vets to check microchips and contact owners before euthanising healthy or treatable animals, Rebecca has declared that she is not giving up.
The Bill is due to be discussed in Parliament in January 2026, although it’s up to the Government whether they give it their backing to actually become law.
Rebecca will keep residents updated as the Bill continues its progression through Parliament.

Rebecca commented: "I’ve been supporting this campaign for years and previously brought forward legislation to make it a legal requirement for vets to check microchips and contact owners before euthanising healthy or treatable animals. Labour blocked that Bill, but I’m not giving up.
"I will keep fighting for this simple, common-sense change until we succeed."
