After months of complex legal discussions, NHS Essex has confirmed that The Hollies GP Surgery in Hadleigh is one step closer to reopening to patients. The GP practice team and landlord have now reached an agreement on legal arrangements and the practice team is now working on a plan to prepare the building and services for reopening in August.
Dame Rebecca Harris MP: "I’m very pleased that this has finally been resolved, after months of uncertainty for residents. I know this will come as a huge relief to many residents, families and staff from across the Borough who have contacted me about this.
"I have supported the action taken to resolve the legal issues, and I would like to thank the excellent caretaker GP practice for stepping in to see patients, and I think everyone will be glad to finally be allowed back in the building."
This marks a significant milestone in efforts to bring services back on site, including moving equipment and preparing clinical systems to ensure a safe and smooth return for patients.
The building was closed following CQC action at the end of last year, and the reopening was delayed following a period of disruption caused by legal issues relating to the premises. During this time, a full range of GP services continued from alternative local locations, ensuring patients could continue to access care.
The practice will now take on a new name, Rectory Road Surgery, marking a fresh start as services return to the building. Patients do not need to re-register and will remain registered with the practice as normal.
Tom Abell, Chief Executive Officer at NHS Essex, said:
“I am very pleased to confirm that the building is now ready to reopen. I would like to apologise to patients for the disruption they have experienced at the Hollies and I thank them and the wider community for their patience and understanding during what has been a challenging period.”
