This week, Rebecca took time out from the Conservative Conference in Manchester to visit the Synagogue in Heaton Park where Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz died in the horrific terrorist attack last week.
These are very difficult times for the Jewish community in Manchester, Castle Point and nationally, many of whom had been dreading such an attack, and sadly, it did not come as a surprise. It is crucial that we stand with our Jewish neighbours in strength.
Rebecca spoke with members of the local Jewish community and laid flowers as a tribute to those who tragically lost their lives defending their congregation from the attack.
May their memory be a blessing.
Following the visit, Rebecca said: "I laid flowers on behalf of all Castle Point residents who I know share my revulsion at what happened.
"The courage and dignity of the congregants I spoke with was amazing.
"I felt very keenly the parallels with the murder of Sir David Amess, also at a place of worship, in a quiet residential street, also by an Islamist terrorist."
