Rebecca Harris meets with The Royal British Legion to discuss how the RBL is helping the 2,621 veterans in Castle Point.
Rebecca Harris met with the Royal British Legion at the Conservative Party Conference to learn more about the Armed Forces community in Castle Point.
Hannah Pearce, Director of Campaigns, Policy and Research at the Royal British Legion said: “It was great to meet with Ms Harris and talk about ways that government is improving the lives of serving personnel, veterans and their families.”
The RBL does valuable work supporting veterans and their families across the UK, for example, they provide expert advice and guidance throughout ones journey to civilian life. This can range from emotional support to financial guidance.
The Government also supports veterans through several programmes. For example, The Veterans and Reserves Mental Health provides assessments and treatment advice for veterans. All veterans referred to the scheme will receive a full psychiatric report which will, depending on the findings, result in further treatment and care. Rebecca commented: “2,567 people in Castle Point live in a household with a veteran in it; that’s 7% of all homes. I’m proud to represent them, and that’s why I was glad to meet with the Royal British Legion and discuss what government can do to improve lives for our current and ex-personnel.”
