Rebecca visited the official launch of Barclays Local site in Canvey Island, located at St Nicholas Church on Long Road. The Barclays Local service replaces the recently closed branch on Canvey Island High Street. For customers who want support in person, the Barclays Local is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:00-12:30 and 13:00 -15:30.

Rebecca Harris welcomed the new service and said: “While I was disappointed that they were closing their branch in Canvey High Street, I am very glad that they listened and acted on my suggestions for an alternative location that would enable their customers to see Barclays staff face-to-face. Not every customer is able or wants to access internet banking. I’m also very grateful to everyone at St Nicholas for acting so fast to get this set up.”

Staff will be on hand to support customers with both digital and complex banking requirements. Although Barclays Local is a cashless site, everyday banking transactions such as cash deposits or withdrawals can be completed at local Post Offices.

Canvey Island Post Office - 25 High Street SS8 7RB, open 8AM-7PM on weekdays and 9-5 Saturdays

Canvey on Sea Post office -  271 High Street SS8 7RS, open 8AM-5.30PM Monday to Saturday

Canvey Village Post Office (located inside Tremains News shop) - 2 Craven Avenue SS8 0DJ, open 6AM-10PM Monday to Sunday

Ian Lovelock, Barclays Deputy Customer Care Director said: “We’re delighted to launch the new Barclays Local in Canvey Island.  This new service represents our commitment to customers and the local community who wish to continue to have in-person support by offering the ability to visit Barclays locally, albeit in a different environment.”
