The Boundary Review Commission in Castle Point 2023
The Boundary Commission are an independent body established by Parliament. It is not affiliated to any government, grouping or political party.
The Boundary Commission review the electoral boundary arrangements of councils to make sure they are fair. All reviews include at least two rounds of public consultation before they make recommendations for change.
The Final Review Outcome
The Boundary Commissions final recommendation was for the total number of councillors to be reduced from 41 to 39 spread across the 14 wards.
They also recommended the boundaries of the wards to be changed, reducing the number of wards to 13. This would mean that each ward is evenly represented by 3 councillors.
The draft Castle Point (Electoral Changes) Order 2023 has now been laid in Parliament to implement these recommendations.
