Over the last few years, we have seen an appalling rise in antisemitism. Whether through hate marches in our cities, attacks on places of worship or stabbings on our streets – antisemitism is a problem in Britain once again. Let’s be clear, this is a national emergency. Castle Point is home to a flourishing Jewish community, and it is vital that we show zero tolerance for this hatred.
I have always stood by our Jewish community in Parliament. I was proud to support the last Conservative government in delivering additional funding to the Community Support Trust (CST) to protect Jewish spaces. Our commitment ironclad over the long term, the last Conservative government announced a £72m package to meet the community’s security needs until 2028. The government also provided an additional £7m for charities like the Holocaust Education Trust to proactively tackle antisemitism. However, there is still more work to do.
In May 2026, the Conservative Party announced our five-point plan to combat antisemitism. The measures we would introduce include:
- Immediate protection - Boost visible policing at high-risk Jewish sites, with armed response capability and specialist rapid response.
- Fast-tracked sentences - Speed up prosecutions for antisemitism and terror support.
- Banning hate marches - Moratorium on the Pro-Palestine marches. They incite violence, glorify terrorism and promote intimidation against Jews.
- Tackling Islamist Extremism - Urgent audit of terror cases involving antisemitism. Disrupt extremists from undermining our democracy.
- Banning the IRGC and stop foreign interference - Legislate to ban Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and criminalise support for them.
To tackle this issue, we need to be clear about our British values of religious freedom and tolerance. Only the Conservative Party have a plan to keep our communities safe.
