Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris visited South Benfleet library this month to recycle her old electrical items. Libraries across the Essex accept old or unwanted electrical materials, 97% of which can be turned into something new. Items that can be recycled are electronic devices such as mobile phones, printers, remote controls, hairdryers, electric toothbrushes, kettles, irons, coffee machines and much more.
Rebecca said:
“It’s not just books at our local libraries, there are lots of reasons to visit and facilities to use. There are also great groups to join like reading clubs & Baby and Toddler Rhymetime.
I campaigned for our libraries to stay open this year, I’m glad that Essex County Council agreed not to shut any down. I hope residents will keep using them and remember what services they offer.”
The facilities in our local library's include:
- Printing, photocopying and faxing
- Computers, scanners & Wi-Fi
- Online courses and resources
- Room and space hire
- Recycling bag collection point
- Battery recycling
There is also a Block Builders Construction Club at South Benfleet Library, a Poetry Reading Group at Hadleigh Library, a Coffee and Crime Book Group, Canvey Island Library and many more. All of these events and their times can be found online: https://libraries.essex.gov.uk/events/
