Today, I joined my MP colleagues from all parties in the House of Commons to lay a cross of remembrance in the constituency memorial garden at the Houses of Parliament.
Last week at a ceremony for the official laying of remembrance wreathes, I was also honoured to meet and shake the hand of Warrant Officer Johnson Beharry, who was awarded the Victoria Cross in 2005 for saving his unit from two enemy ambushes while serving in Iraq
We must never forget the sacrifices of those who answered their country’s call and fought for the freedom we all enjoy and hold so dear to this day.
We will remember them.
