Rebecca Harris MP has welcomed today’s announcement by the Secretary of State for Transport, the Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, allocating £70million to the Pothole Action Fund. Rebecca has long been calling for increased funding from the Government to repair potholes in Essex.
£9.7million of the Pothole Action Fund is being allocated to the East of England for 2017/18. £1.87million of this is going to Essex, enough to repair 35,300 potholes. This money is on top of the £21.8million already allocated to Essex’s Highways Authority, the County Council, for general Highways Maintenance for 2017/18.
Welcoming the announcement Rebecca said:
“This announcement is very welcome news for the many motorists in Castle Point. Potholes are one of the main concerns I get in my Inbox from my constituents and I have long been calling on the Government to increase funding to get more potholes repaired. This extra money should go a long way to getting the many potholes in Castle Point repaired!”
