Castle Point Member of Parliament Rebecca Harris met with Dr Ian Duncan MEP, the Conservative Spokesman for Energy in Brussels, to discuss the importance of safety measures for COMAH sites. The MP met with Mr Duncan at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester along with East of England MEP Vicki Ford.

The three discussed the need to ensure that regulations are constantly monitored and updated to ensure that COMAH sites remain safe and viable. Speaking after the meeting Mrs Harris said:

“It was extremely useful to be able to give my views to Ian Duncan and he agreed with me that the safety of these sites is paramount. We have to COMAH sites on Canvey providing jobs for the area.”

Mrs Harris also took the opportunity to discuss the need for a third road off the island with her Conservative colleague Vicki Ford. The campaign for a third road is one which Mrs Harris hopes to lead the way on along with other local representatives.
