Castle Point Member of Parliament, Rebecca Harris, was among a number of MPs who attended a recent reception in Westminster to raise awareness for those suffering from Osteoporosis.
Commenting after the reception Mrs Harris stated: “We must do more to raise awareness for conditions such as osteoporosis. It can be an incredibly debilitating disease and those suffering with it should know that there is help out there.”
Half of all women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 will break a bone due to poor bone health. More than 3 million people in the UK are affected by Osteoporosis. Recently the National Osteoporosis Society published a report detailing some of the key findings of research into the realities of life with the condition. This report detailed, among other findings, that 1 in 3 people who have fractured bones reported seeing less of their friends and relatives than they used to.
To find out more about Osteoporosis, or if you are worried that you may be at risk from the condition, Mrs Harris has urged her constituents to contact the National Osteoporosis Society on 0845 450 0230 or visit their website at https://www.nos.org.uk/get-involved
