A popular post office on Canvey Island has reopened with a new manager after a brand new refit. The revamped post office on High Road Canvey was opened by Her Worship the Mayor Jackie Govier, Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris, and special guest Postman Pat. The opening also marks the retirement of post office manager Richard Bush. Sandra Durrant took over the running of the post office on Monday.
Local MP Rebecca said:
“It was a pleasure to help open the newly renovated post office on Canvey High Street.
“Post Offices are at the heart of their local communities and this one is no exception.
“Everybody seemed very pleased with it's new look......or maybe they were just happy to meet the special guest?!
“Good luck to the lovely Sandra who is taking on the running of the post office after the retirement of Richard, who has served the community behind the counter there for almost thirty years.”
Canvey Island Councillor Ray Howard who was also at the opening, said:
“I have had the pleasure of knowing the post office for many years when Stevens the bakers used to run it, and then it was taken over by Richard who worked tirelessly for many years and was loved by the community.
“I wish Sandra every success in her new venture!”
