World Book Day 2025

Today is World Book Day and you may have noticed school children dressed up as their favourite book characters as they travel too and from school. There were a lot of excellent costumes this year! 📚

Reading for fun is the so for biggest indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happier and more successful life, but only 1 in 3 primary school age children say they enjoy reading.

This year, as well as a £1 book token there are a number of retailers who have signed up to offer a number of kids story books for just £1 or a token.

Visit www.worldbookday.com/books-and-tokens/books/ to find out more.

Another way to get kids involved in reading for free is to take them to one of the many events throughout the years at our local libraries. You can find out more information on library events via the Essex Libraries website. libraries.essex.gov.uk
