At the Conservative Party Conference this week, Rebecca Harris MP visited the MND Association stand to hear more about their important work.
Motor Neurone Disease is a life-altering neurological condition affecting mobility, speech, eating and breathing. There is currently no cure to this awful disease, and the MND Association have made it their mission to support those affected, raise awareness and fund ground-breaking research.
The MND Association attended Conservative Party Conference to share their priorities, including urging the Government to back a fast-track pathway for care and support groundbreaking new treatments like tofersen.
Rebecca has long supported MND charities and took the opportunity to reaffirm her commitment to improving outcomes for people living with Motor Neurone Disease. In 2021, Rebecca was proud to support the Conservative Government’s funding package worth £50m for research into MND. She also backed MND Association’s successful Scrap 6 Months Campaign, which ensures that those suffering from a terminal diagnosis can now receive fast-tracked access to Government support for twice as long.
Rebecca commented: "I am grateful to MND Association for providing an update on their crucial mission. With no cure as of yet, it is vital that the Government supports charities like these to undertake comprehensive research and find new treatments. I look forward to continue pushing the Government to meet and improve existing funding commitments."
