NHS confirms COVID jab now offered at every eligible care home in England

Every eligible care home in England with older residents has now been offered a life-saving vaccine, marking an important milestone in our ongoing race to vaccinate the vulnerable against this disease figures are expected to show.

Protecting the most vulnerable has always been our priority, which is why once a vaccine became available we ensured care homes and their staff were prioritised in the vaccine rollout.

As our vaccine rollout continues to expand, we have delivered our promise to offer vaccines to all care homes with older residents by the end of January, save for the small remainder who had their visits deferred for safety reasons during a local outbreak. This means one of the most vulnerable groups in society has now been offered protection, giving peace of mind to thousands of care home residents and their families.

There will be difficult moments to come, but vaccines are our route out of the pandemic and we will continue to do everything we can to accelerate their rollout in the weeks ahead.

New Vaccination Centres Open in Essex

Life-saving vaccinations will be delivered locally at venues such as Chelmsford City Racecourse and the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend-on-Sea this week when six new vaccination centres open across the East of England.

The six new large-scale vaccination centres planned to go live over the coming week. It brings the total number of large vaccination centres in Essex & Suffolk to nine following the opening of The Lodge in Runwell Wickford, Gainsborough Sports Centre and Harlow Leisurezone.

They are among more than 1,400 vaccination sites nationally and offer an additional option to hospital hubs, GP and pharmacy-led vaccination services already offering coronavirus vaccinations across the region.
