This week, Rebecca has welcomed the news that the Canvey Pride in Place Board agreed that it would match-fund the £500,000 Castle Point Borough have put aside to dredge Canvey Lake.
The money is coming from the £20 million that Rebecca lobbied for and was allocated under the last Government to improve the Island through the Pride in Place Programme.
After attending a meeting of the Pride in Place Board, where the money was approved to look at dredging the Lake, Rebecca welcomed the news.
Rebecca has been calling for such action at the Lake for years. While this will not resolve all the problems, she has said that it is a very good start. She went on to echo the frustrations of many residents about the length of time it has taken to get to this point.
Rebecca commented: "After all these years of neglect, it looks like we're getting some real action... Watch this space. This is really good news for Canvey Lake and I know a lot of people will be very pleased."
