Dame Rebecca has this week welcomed some great news for Canvey seafront lovers.

The first water quality test since Canvey Island Foreshore was officially granted bathing water status has come back with a very positive result.

Rebecca has said this is exactly why she and local campaigners have worked so hard for bathing water status. It means regular Environment Agency testing, published results, and a clearer picture of water quality for everyone to see.

There is still more monitoring to be completed before an official bathing water rating can be awarded, but Rebecca has praised this as a very encouraging start.

As the weather gets warmer and more people head to the coast, this gives residents and visitors extra confidence about enjoying Canvey's beach and seafront.

Rebecca commented: "Well done again to everyone who spent years campaigning to get Canvey recognised. It is great news for the Island, our seafront and local businesses."
