This week, Rebecca Harris welcomes HRH Princess Anne to Canvey Island.

The station recently moved from its old location by the Occidental Jetty in the East of Canvey, to its new location on Canvey Point and the Princess Royal was shown around their brand-new modern Coast Watch Station. Her Royal Highness met with the Canvey Coastguards to, and she was very interested in the equipment used and the stories of what the volunteers had seen whilst on duty.

Rebecca commented: “Coastwatch is entirely manned by volunteers who give up their time to help keep our shores and the Thames safe. It was wonderful they received well deserved recognition in the form of a royal visit.”
