This week, Dame Rebecca visited the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre on the Nevendon Road in Basildon.
Together, Rebecca and the Centre's excellent team discussed crucial animal welfare policies including responsible dog ownership, puppy smuggling, and their specialist 'Freedom' Service.
'Freedom' is a confidential fostering service for dogs whose owners are fleeing domestic abuse. We know there is a link between domestic violence and violence directed at pets, as well as pets being used to control victims. The Service allows Dogs Trust to work closely with an experienced group of volunteer foster carers who open their homes and hearts to care for dogs, whilst receiving full support and guidance from their experienced team.
If you want to learn more about their 'Freedom' Service, or pass on details to someone who you think may benefit, you can find more information via this link: www.dogstrustfreedom.org.uk/
