As part of Conservative Party Conference, Rebecca Harris MP attended a stand run by Alzheimer’s Society.

Dementia devastates lives and it is estimated that 1 in 3 of those born today will go to develop dementia, often a pre curser to Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s Society research shows that 900,000 people in the UK have a form of dementia. By 2025, 1 million people will be living with the condition in the UK, and many millions more carers, partners, families and friends are affected.

Rebecca Harris MP said:

“Dementia devastates lives, including in Castle Point where there are 1530 people living with dementia.

Alzheimer's Society is a fantastic organisation that people living with dementia can turn to for expert support through practical advice, emotional support and guidance for the best next step. They are a vital source of support and a powerful force for change for everyone affected by dementia.”

Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK dementia research charity to fund both biomedical and care research, funding research in dementia diagnosis, treatment and care. It is also a founding partner of the UK Dementia Research Institute.

Through their support line, online and print information, expert dementia advisers and online community, they give advice and practical guidance for the next steps as people living with dementia navigate the hardest times of their lives. Through this vital work, they support people living with dementia to enjoy more fulfilled lives.
