Rebecca Harris MP joined with Terri Bush, the Volunteer Stamp Appeal Coordinator to help raise money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

The charity is aiming to raise at least £30,000, and so far they have raised £9,752.10- almost a third of their target amount. Every 10 minutes somewhere a child, teenager or adult is diagnosed with primary bone cancer. Each year since the charity started they have endeavoured to grow their research to save lives. One way to raise money is by collecting used stamps.

Terri Bush said: “Over the last three years we have encouraged more researchers to explore primary bone cancer and have funded more research projects than ever before in our history - but critically our income has fallen. We need your support now! Please ask everyone you know to support our appeal! Every stamp, collection, first day covers and so on sent to us will help raise vital funds.”

Rebecca met with one local girl, Evie Rott who is a Year 2 pupil at Robert Drake Primary School- who has been doing her bit to collect as many stamps as she can from her school friends and parents.

Rebecca commented: “I was so impressed with Evie! She organised for a stamp box to be put in Robert Drake’s entrance and helped collect lots of stamp’s for the appeal already. At this time of year, people are receiving lots of Christmas cards to now is the idea time to start collecting.!

Stamps can be sent directly to Terri at: 20 Bowers Road, Benfleet, Essex, SS7 5PZ. If they are trimmed up to 1cm of paper around the stamp and sorted into UK, Pre-decimal or overseas the stamps can be sent directly to their buyer at BCRT, PO Box 6198, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 9XT, where the Bone Cancer Research Trust will raise 25% more! Terri has a group of wonderful volunteers who are happy to sort and trim stamps if you are not able to.
