Rebecca Harris MP receives Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Canvey Island visit

Rebecca Harris MP joined Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, to view investment in youth outreach on Canvey Island. They toured Canvey Island Police Station and met a number of the officers working there.

On Canvey Island the PFCC, through its Violence and Vulnerability Unit, has supported Yellow Door, an independent charity offering information, advice, advocacy, emotional and practical support, education, counselling and activities to young people between 11 and 25.

Rebecca and Roger also took the opportunity to join Essex Police on a short patrol of Canvey Island, where they were able to discuss policing on the island.

Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point, said: “It was good to have Roger back on the Island again to speak to the Officers working at Canvey Police Station, hear how popular the town teams are with local businesses and residents, and learn more about the amazing youth work Yellow Door does.”

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “It was very pleasing to be welcomed to Yellow Door today, to see the vital advice and support provided to young people on Canvey Island. We have invested in a range of initiatives across Essex designed to stop vulnerable young people being drawn into a life of crime and help all our communities be safer.”
