Today I had the honour of opening a wonderful new charity shop in Thundersley.

The new shop in Hart Road, raises funds for Kool Carers, a charity that supports young carers in South Essex. It was opened in the memory of Amira Temani Lewis, a young carer tragically took her own life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kool Carers work to support young carers between the ages 8-18 who often miss out on opportunities to play and learn like others their age.

The charity was co-founded by Benfleet resident Rachel Tungate and it supports many young carers in our local area.

The shop is gorgeous and operates with the help of a great bunch of local volunteers.
