Rebecca met with the British Heart Foundation at the Conservative Party Conference 2024 to discuss their work and hear about the latest research into heart disease, strokes, vascular dementia and risk factors for diabetes.

The British Heart Foundations was founded in 1961 and has been helping save lives of people with heart disease. It is estimated that around 7.6 million people in the UK are currently living with a heart or circulatory disease and sadly every 3 minutes someone dies as a result.

In Castle Point, almost 1 in 5 patients suffers with high blood pressure and many more may unknowingly have this too. Rebecca heard about the British Heart Foundation’s work encouraging us all to keep track of our blood pressure to avoid heart disease and if necessary treat the symptoms early.

The British Heart Foundation is only able to carry out this research because of the generous donations made from members of the public and significant Government investment. The previous Conservative Government invested over £2.3 bullion to help improve access to heart scans and reduce waiting lists.

Rebecca said: “I was pleased to visit the British Heart Foundation’s once again this year at Party Conference. The British Heart Foundation carry out some of the top research in the world into heart disease and I know their work is so important to many people across Castle Point and the country.”
