The Domestic Abuse Bill is Now Law

The Government’s landmark Domestic Abuse Bill has passed through all stages of its Parliamentary process, delivering on the Government’s manifesto commitment to pass the Bill and support all victims of domestic abuse in doing so.

The Domestic Abuse Bill will make a significant difference to the lives of many women, men and children by better protecting them from their abusers and providing them with the support they so very much need. The Bill will further improve the effectiveness of the justice system in providing protection for victims of domestic abuse and bringing perpetrators to justice.

Commenting, Rebecca Harris MP said:

“Too many people have to live in fear of abuse – whether it be physical, emotional or economic – from those who should make them feel safe and loved. That is why I am proud to play my part in supporting the Domestic Abuse Bill in Parliament, which will empower and protect victims and survivors in Castle Point and across the Country, while tackling perpetrators of this horrific crime at the earliest stage. Through this Bill, and by bolstering law enforcement, we will be able to keep millions of victims safe and ensure abusers are brought to justice.”
