Today Rebecca attended the Campaign for Gigi drop-in, hosted by the Lullaby Trust in Parliament, to find out about urgent action to keep babies and young children safe in nurseries.
Genevieve Meehan, lovingly known as Gigi, was a nine-month-old who was tragically killed whilst in nursery care because of an unsafe sleeping environment.
Working with the Lullaby Trust and parents, the campaign is calling for mandatory CCTV, stronger unannounced Ofsted inspections, and clear statutory safe sleep guidance with mandatory training for nursery staff - changes that could prevent further tragedies.
If you would like to find out more about the campaign and how it aims to make nurseries safer for every child, you can read more here: www.lullabytrust.org.uk/about-us/our-campaigns/campaign-for-gigi/.
Following the event, Rebecca commented: "The Lullaby trust do incredible work to keep babies safe and support families when they need it the most. I'm proud to stand with them and with families like Gigi's who are turning heartache into action."
