Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris has pledged to help eradicate the inequalities men with prostate cancer face after speaking with campaigners at the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham last week.
Despite being the most common cancer in men, those affected by or at risk of prostate cancer continue to face a number of injustices, particularly when it comes to access to the best treatments and aftercare support for their condition.
Prostate Cancer UK was at the Conservative Party conference calling for urgent action on these issues. As well as pledging long term commitment to helping bring about real change for men, politicians were being asked to show their support for the charity’s game plan by signing up to Men United – a new team which seeks to unite people across the UK against the common enemy of prostate cancer.
Commenting Rebecca said:
“I joined Prostate Cancer UK's Men United Team to show my support for tackling Prostate Cancer. This terrible disease is the most common cancer in men and I know there are many men in Castle Point affected by it, yet there is relatively little support for those with disease in terms of medical research, treatment and care. It is therefore vitally important do what we can do to support awareness for early diagnosis, greater research, improved treatments and better care for those with the disease to bring about lasting change for our sons, husbands and fathers!”
