One of my favourite, if quirky, Christmas traditions is joining the carol singing and Fish & Chip lunch at the Canvey Heritage Centre on Long Road.
The lunch is arranged by the Canvey Island Historical and Conservation Society who look after the heritage centre museum and who host open days and wonderful historical and craftwork exhibitions there throughout the year.
The Chairman of the society, Don McLean, also writes a cryptic quiz for the occasion on a different subject every year. This year it was names of former UK Prime Ministers.
Can anyone guess the former Prime Minister from this cryptic clue, “His name implies he is entitled to wear a crown, yet not on his head”?
