Last Saturday Rebecca Harris MP visited a variety of small businesses in Castle Point, participating in the annual ‘Small Business Saturday.’
The day is aimed at supporting small businesses in the local community and to showcase their success stories. During the event, small business owners showed Rebecca their wide array of excellent products and services.
Rebecca visited local stores such as Plantwise Florist in Canvey and Cameo Boutique in Hadleigh. She was impressed with the dedication and hard work of the owners and staff who she met throughout the day.
The purpose of the campaign, now in its fourth year, is to highlight small businesses’ achievements and to encourage people to shop locally. Small Business Saturday is the most successful small business campaign, with more than £623 million being spent on the day last year, an increase of 25% from the year before.
Rebecca Harris commented “It was great to support local retailers in Castle Point last week on Small Business Saturday. There were some wonderful independent stalls at the Rotary Christmas Market! Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and vital to the continued success of our local economy. There are many more local fayres coming up around Christmas. While I try to do as much of my shopping with small businesses in my borough all year round but if you can, I encourage everyone to if you can- shop small for your Christmas presents.”
