At Conservative Party Conference Rebecca met with, Care after Combat, a UK based charity providing professional assistance for the well-being of Veterans and their family.
Their mission is to support veterans with alcohol and substance misuse problems and the reduction in numbers of re-offending veterans in the criminal justice system.
Project Phoenix, an initiative which works with Veterans via a peer-mentoring process, introduced during the final 18-months of sentencing and continues following release, was a hot topic and something many of the attendees of the conference were excited to hear about. Care after Combat CEO Jim Davidson OBE was on hand to explain the impact the Libor Fund donation has made to the charity in the last 12 months.
Rebecca said: "It was great to meet with Care after Combat team last week and speak to them about the excellent work they are continuing to do, in helping Veterans who have found themselves in the Criminal Justice System.
At the last conference, Care after Combat were working with just 3 prisons and 16 prisoners. Now, the team have over 27 prisons and 148 Veterans on the books, with 40 released and no re-offending, thus saving government 7.4 million and helping many more veterans."
Over the course of the exhibit, the team meet with several Ministers to discuss the exciting progress the charity has made. The Care after Combat team felt it was important to come back to the Conservative Party Conference this year, to show the Government the results they are getting due to their help.
