Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris has welcomed the recent announcement that the Government has created 2 million new apprentices over the duration of this Parliament.
Last year Castle Point saw 720 people begin an apprenticeship. In greeting the news Rebecca said:
“The recent figures prove that our long term economic plan is working for the people of Castle Point. Apprenticeships are not only fantastic ways to gain the skills and trades needed to kick start a career, they also contribute hugely to the UK economy. I wish all new apprentices in Castle Point the very best for their future careers!”
Rebecca also urged local firms to look into taking on an apprentice. The Castle Point MP said:
“Taking on an apprentice is much easier than most firms think. It is also a win-win situation for small businesses and local people seeking training.”
The Government has further announced that it aims to increase the number of apprenticeship starts to 3 million by 2020.
March will see the launch of the 2015 National Apprenticeship week between the 9th and 13th March. The aim of this week will be to boost awareness and celebrate the benefits of apprenticeships to the British economy. It is also hoped that the Apprentice Week will help to dispel some of the myths that exist about apprenticeships.
