🧱 Rebecca has welcomed the start of work to create a new sixth form college for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in South Benfleet.
Last month, Rebecca paid a visit to the site alongside local Council representatives and the Morgan Sindall project team.
Once complete, Glenwood Sixth Form will offer 40 new places for SEND students in the local area. The £6.6 million project will see five classrooms, a dining space, catering training centre, meeting room, and specialised sensory rooms created. It will be an enriching environment for children with additional learning needs to enjoy.
The project is set to be finished by next Spring and will be carbon net-zero in operation. It will be powered by PV panels on the roof and air source heat pumps.
After visiting the site, Rebecca commented: "I am very pleased to see a commitment to SEND provision in our Borough, one which will provide critical support for young people with special educational needs to learn and gain independence in a suitable environment.
"I look forward to seeing the project progress over the winter and be ready to receive its first intake of students next year."
