The Home Secretary visited Gold and Diamond Jewellers on Furtherwick Road with Rebecca and met with owner Harry Awidikian after his shop was targeted by armed raiders earlier this month.
Speaking on the visit Rebecca said:""I am very grateful for the Home Secretary for coming to Castle Point as soon as the House of Commons dissolved for the election.
"Crime and people's fear of crime is is always a top concern. People are often sceptical of falling crime figures when they see high profile crimes in their local High Streets. I wanted her to meet Harry and Talin who could tell her directly about their recent robbery at their Jewelers Diamonds and Gold in Furtherwick Road.
"The Home Secretary encouraged people to visit the Police.uk website to view the local crime map and statistics for their area."
"Teresa is a big believer in helping more women into politics and she really supported me when I became a candidate so I am very pleased she came back to support me again."
The Home Secretary's visit comes two days after a visit from the Justice Secretary, Chris Graying, who visited residents in the Rundles area of Thundersley with Rebecca and local councillors to discuss possible measures to tackle anti-social behavior in a nearby alley way. The Justice Secretary also went out to support Rebecca on the doorsteps canvassing around Canvey Island.
