Rebecca Harris MP for Castle Point has today welcomed the news that Essex will be receiving extra funding for highways maintenance. In October, the Chancellor Phillip Hammond announced a further £420,000,000 of new funding for local highways, the biggest ever single cash injection for England’s roads. £10,894,000 will be allocated to Essex, one of the biggest funding allocations in the country.
The extra funding will be used to help Essex County Council repair potholes, keep local bridges and structures open and safe and other minor highway works that are needed. This funding is on top of the £950 million in highways funding already provided to Council’s across the Country this year.
Rebecca commented:
“I am pleased to hear the news that Essex County Council will be receiving an extra £10 million in funding for road maintenance. Highway concerns are always a high priority for my residents and I look forward to seeing Castle Point receive its fair share of resources.”
