Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris officially cut the ribbon to open a new hair salon with a difference on Canvey Island seafront.
The salon, ‘Coronado S.A.’, is actually a hair and beauty centre combined with a seafront coffee shop and meeting space.
The owner of the new salon, experienced Canvey hairdresser John Coronado, came up with the idea after seeing the recent investment in the seafront area. He decided that as well as moving his hair dressing business there he wanted to add to regeneration of the area as an upmarket destination for Canvey residents.
Speaking at the opening Mr Coronado, who has been running hair salons in Canvey since the age of 19, said:
“I am Canvey through and through and I used to love coming to the seafront as a kid. Over the past few years a number of Canvey business people have put a lot of money into improving the look of the area and I wanted to add to that.”
As well as hairdressing facilities and a seafront coffee bar, the salon boasts a massage therapy room and a nail bar and is decorated with in beach front theme that mixes drift wood fittings with a state of the art salon.
Mr Coronado continued:
“I want it to be an attractive place for families to come and meet, enjoy a haircut, a coffee or some beauty therapy and then go out and enjoy the seafront. The idea is to eventually paint the celling with art work about the history of the Canvey community and our seafront so that locals and visitors can come and enjoy that too.”
Commenting on the opening Rebecca said:
“I think it’s a great concept and it looks very stylish. The sea front area has seen a lot of investment recently and I am pleased that this new business will add to the area as a leisure destination for Canvey families.”
