Castle Point MP, Rebecca Harris, has urged her constituents to take advantage of free flu jabs this winter. For most people the flu is an unpleasant illness, but not serious. However, certain people are more likely to develop potentially serious complications. If you are over 65, pregnant, if you are a carer, or you live in a long-stay residential care home or other long-stay care facility you are entitled to a free flu jab.
Encouraging Castle Point residents who qualify to take up the offer, Mrs Harris said:
“So many people are entitled to a free flu jab and don’t know it. Flu can be a really nasty illness and in some cases can be genuinely dangerous. A flu jab is quick, painless and worthwhile. Even if you’re not entitled to a free flu jab, you can get one at your local pharmacy from as little as £10.”
Experts recommend at-risk groups get a flu jab every year to protect themselves. Flu jabs are available from your local GP surgery or at your local pharmacy.
