Rebecca Harris MP for Castle Point attended the Medtronic event that aimed to raise awareness of World Diabetes Day and the many people in the UK that live with diabetes every day.
Diabetes is a condition that causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high. There are two types of diabetes. Type 1 is obtained at birth and is the inability to produce insulin. Type 2 is acquired throughout someone’s lifetime and is the inability to produce enough insulin or the inability to react normally to insulin production.
Rebecca commented: “It was great to meet with representatives from Medtronic to learn about their helpful work and the challenges that people living with diabetes face. I know that 4.3 million people in the UK live with diabetes, and that they can manage their diabetes to live long and fulfilling lives.”
Medtronic have started the #BlueBalloonChallenge, in which Rebecca Harris took part, to increase diabetes visibility. Detection is vital for management of diabetes. You can find out more about diabetes symptoms, and how to reduce type 2 symptoms, here.
