Rebecca took time off from the campaign trail yesterday to attend the official opening of the new HQ of the Essex Air Ambulance a charity that is very close to her heart.
The new office was purpose built for the charity with the support of the Hobbs family, who own Earls Colne Business Park, and furnished with the support of generous donations from Essex businesses.
The building was officially opened by Jane Gurney, the CEO of the charity, and former patient Maisy, who when she was 15 months old was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital with severe head injuries after a road traffic accident. She received first class medial treatment from the on-board Doctor and Paramedic from minutes after the accident when they arrived on the scene, to when she went through the doors to the helipad at the hospital.
In a separate ceremony the boardroom of the new office was named the 'Shipley Suite' in honour of the Chair of Trustees Brian Shipley for his tireless work as chairman for over a decade.
It is a beautiful office full of passionate people dedicated to a wonderful cause. As a charity however, they can only function with public support.
