Local residents in Hadleigh are benefiting from free one-to-one digital skills sessions designed to help them build confidence using everyday technology and access NHS digital services.
The sessions, delivered throughout January and February at Hadleigh Library, were organised by the local NHS, Essex County Council, Hadleigh Library and volunteers from Saffron Building Society.
The sessions have already helped residents download and use the NHS App to order repeat prescriptions and access health records. Additional support is also provided to improve general digital confidence, such as setting up email accounts, using app stores and staying safe online.
Since launching in January, the sessions have seen strong uptake, with positive feedback from participants. Due to this success, partners are now exploring opportunities to expand the model across Essex.
Early feedback from residents attending the digital skills sessions has been very positive, with many participants reporting increased confidence using online health services such as the NHS App after receiving one-to-one support. All respondents said they would recommend the sessions to others, with many highlighting how helpful it was to have someone guide them through downloading the app and managing services like repeat prescriptions.
Dame Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point said:
“It’s great to see local organisations working together to provide practical support for residents. Improving digital confidence helps remove barriers that are stopping people from accessing services more easily.”
CEO Colin Field at Saffron Building Society, said:
“We share a commitment to improving digital confidence in our communities. By volunteering alongside library colleagues, we’ve been able to support residents in building essential skills that make everyday life easier.”
Residents can find out more about the free sessions by dropping in to Hadleigh Library or visiting the Essex libraries website.
